Feng Shui Mindset
Wednesday, November 5, 2008Sometime people approach Feng Shui with such enthusiasm till becoming paranoid. Every single thing must be Feng Shuied. Every single event must consult the Master. Every single decoration to be done to the room must consult the Master. Every journey to be taken must consult the Master. Every meeting with potential new clients must consult the Master. Just in case there is a disruption to the delicate balance of Qi. Just in case there would be a clash on the Qi.
This is not the mindset to apply Feng Shui. The mindset to applying Feng Shui should be logical and practical. It means not getting paranoid over every small thing. Not going overboard by applying all solution to Feng Shui ever known in history. If you do that, in the end, you will end up with a home that is cluttered, uncomfortable and the worst nightmare to a designer. Not mentioning the time and effort required to find the correct placement object, the correct people to be involves and the inconvenience.
Feng Shui is about balance and priority. Certain features are more important than others. For example, it is of a higher priority for you to be in a good house than trying to live in a house which is in a bad location but facing your favorable direction. Think about the inconvenience, the frustration if you have to live in such a place. And, not to mention your favorable facing direction might not be your other housemate favorable facing direction.
Getting a perfect house is really hard work. It takes the right timing, the right location and the right person to get the right house. And some time, even if you have the money you won't be able to get it. Maybe the house is not for sale. Or the land is reserved for other development, for example.
Feng Shui is practical science. Apply when necessary. There is no need to 'cure' every problem at sight. Feng Shui is not a way to apply cure when not necessary. And in the end, transform your home to a traditional Chinese restaurant style. (Unless that's the theme you are looking for.) Or is it necessary for you to wear all sort or accessories just because someone says wearing it would boost your Qi. (Unless you like the idea of looking like a Christmas tree.) A true Feng Shui master leaves no trace of his presence behind. Advice would only be given base on the person's personality and preference. For example, a person lack of the Element Wood but do not prefer to wear any gem jewelry or in fact dislike to any jewelry at all. The master would then advice him to get a key-chain with a name tag make from wood. A Feng Shui well done by a professional would only be recognize by another professional. A Feng Shui well done would benefit all that live in the house, not just the person who consult the Master.
The mindset of Feng Shui should be: precaution is more valued than the cure. If you can avoid the problem in the first place, that is better than to try and find a solution later. For example, it is best to give up on a property which you like a lot but, that is just not right for you. Your dream house in a bad neighborhood, or the perfect environment but the house would cost you more than you can afford to repair, for example.
A simply rule of thumb when applying Feng Shui: you can never go too wrong when you are comfortable.
Have a harmony life and live consciously.
