What does a Ba Zi reveal?
Friday, November 14, 2008An individual birth date - the year, month, day and time of birth make up the Ba Zi chart. Ba Zi is sometime known as Si Zu in Chinese and literally translates as the Four Pillar. There is four pair of Chinese Character assign to the birth date: one pair for the year, one pair for the month, one pair for the day and one pair for the time. These characters are read from top to bottom per pair. Since there are four set, hence the term Four Pillar.
The top row characters are known as Heavenly Stem and the bottom row the Earthly Branch. The Heavenly Stem represent the external perception of a person, meaning what a person choose to show the world, in term of character, personality, principle and outlook.
For example, from the Heavenly Stem, if you detect Wealth element. It sometime means that the person like to let the world know that he is wealthy. These types of people like to show off their wealth. It does not mean that they are wealthy. They just like the feeling and attention. There are sayings that describe this type of people perfectly. "Look good from the outside but rotting inside."
What happen when the Wealthy element appear in the Earthly Branch? These types of people are the opposite of the above. They can be very wealth, but a one glance at them, you might not classify them as wealthy. These types of people are very humble but rich. They do not like to show off their wealth.
The Heavenly Stem and the Earth Branch comprise if Yin and Yang polarities of the Five Element. The Heavenly Stem is represented by 12 Chinese numeric Characters and the Earthly Branch is represented by 12 Chinese zodiac Characters.
The 12 zodiac characters are use mainly for its term and not the common understanding of the 'personality traits' or characteristic. Just image, if all the people born under the same zodiac sign have the same personality than life on Earth would be much simpler.
From the Ba Zi chart, we can determine the type of Elements exist, the strength of the elements and how these elements interact. From there, the personality, characteristic, strength and potential, as well as the 'luck' of the person can be determined and advice would be given accordingly.
Luck is in quote because a person misfortune is something affected by the person character for example, a clumsy person is prone to a lot of 'bad luck' because he does not pay close attention to his action.
